Each of us experiences pain. Though time really does help to heal wounds, nothing can erase our memories. A Crazy, Holy Grace is a collection of essays by Frederick Buechner, a Presbyterian clergy from Vermont. In his writings Buechner shares of his struggles to come to grips with the nature of pain, grief and grace in the years since the suicide of his father when Buechner was a young boy.
On four Monday evenings this summer (two in July, 7/16 & 7/23; and two in August, 8/13 & 8/20) we will discuss our understandings of his writings at the home of Don & Glenda Schuessler (129 Rowley ), meeting from 7 – 8:30 PM. There will be a short video as part of each session. Each person will have a copy of the book and a study guide. These can be picked up in the church office. Participants are encouraged to read the book and study guide materials before each session. The goal of the study is to help us deal with pain in Christian ways that are attentive to both the realities of human emotional suffering and the hope of the Gospel. Please pray about setting aside 4 evenings this summer to wrestle with these ideas with brothers and sisters in Christ. For more information, please contact Don Schuessler, 315-287-0746.
